According to the Cambridge dictionary, sustainability refers to the quality of being able to continue over a period of time. When we discuss the concept under the framework of environment, it refers to the quality of causing little or no damage to the environment and therefore able to continue for a long time. Then if we further put this concept into the field of business, it stands for the idea that goods and services should be produced in ways that do not use resources that cannot be replaced and that do not damage the environment.
Nowadays, the concept of sustainability has been widely applied to various fields such as finance (e.g. debt sustainability), fashion (e.g. sustainable fashion), enterprise (e.g. sustainable management), business (e.g. fair trade), energy (e.g. renewable energy), technology (e.g. green technology), and of course, our nature environment (e.g. carbon emissions).
